This room is full of rich and deep colours that lend a captivating and evocative mood to the space. The stylish ambient lighting brings softness to the room and also necessary light when playing pool. There is plenty of room for all of the family to lounge and take it easy, whether you are relaxing and watching a movie or having a family pool competition. This space will keep you happily entertained.

The Bar

Thurlestones first art-deco bar sits at the highest vista in Higher Cross Park. Agatha Christie would most certainly have felt at home here. Perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or a night-cap before signing off for the day, this may well be the best sunset experience in the South Hams. In the summer, open the windows and enjoy the uninterrupted views from the moors right across to the the ocean. In the cooler months, close up those windows and get the log burner going, this will keep you warm and cosy while you pop open a bottle of red wine. A fully stocked bar is run as an honesty service and you have the option to pre-order specific drinks before your stay via our concierge service.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool area is an incredible sun-trap and is a wonderful place to spend summer days. Set in beautifully manicured garden, there is a heated 12x6m swimming pool which has a shallow and deep end that should suit most abilities. This is surrounded by numerous loungers where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine. Having brought young children up at Higher Cross Park, safety was very much in mind when we developed this area so the pool is fitted with a electric safety cover that opens and closes at the switch of a button.

Hot Tub

The hot tub seats 6-8 people and is perfectly located to take in the views right down to Bantham. It is also next to the bar – ideal for a light refreshment as you relax.

The Pool Changing Room

Located in the main house just off of the kitchen/dining area, it links to an external door with steps going straight up to the swimming pool.  This is where you come for your beach towels (if they haven’t already been put out for you!) or to freshen up after a swim.  You have a walk-in shower and plenty of room to hang your belongings.
